WG1 will focus on models and tools to assess the probability of floods and on measures to reduce its probability (protection against floods (flood defence) and modify flow (water retention and storage). Expertise and experience from different fields of science will be integrated (engineering, climate change, meteorology, geography, geology, GIS techniques, EIA, SEA, economics, ecology, management sciences etc.).
